Ronald Colman turns in an Oscar winning performance in this classic story of jealousy, madness and revenge, with an impressive, star-studded cast, including Shelley Winters and Edmond O'Brien. Colman stars as Tony John, an actor cast in a local production of "Othello," who finds the line between fantasy and reality beginning to blur when he starts acting on the murderous impulses of his character - offstage. In addition to the Oscar win for Colman (in a role originally turned down by Cary Grant), and an award for Miklos Rozsa (Best Scoring of a Dramatic Picture), A Double Life also garnered Academy Award nominations for director George Cukor (The Philadelphia Story), and screenwriters Ruth Gordon and Garson Kanin. |
