Chad Gates (Elvis Presley) is returning home to Hawaii from a stint in the army. While hes happy to be home enjoying his laid-back lifestyle, his mother (Angela Lansbury) begins pressuring him to work for the family business, a pineapple company. Instead Chad goes to work as a tour guide at his girlfriends (Joan Blackman) agency. He meets a group of teen girls on vacation with their schoolmarm teacher who begins paying Chad a lot of attention. This in turn makes his island girlfriend jealous adding more to the tensions. Chad finds ways to balance his lifestyle with his parents and still find time for fun. Combined with a lot of Elvis musical pieces, this is a lighthearted traditional Elvis movie that has become rather "iconish" over the years.
