David Dailey (Gil Bellows) is a perfectly normal man living a perfectly normal life in Louisville, Kentucky. On the surface he seems to have everything. A great marriage to his wife Susan (Kim Raver), a great career, and a community that loves him. Underneath it all, however, things are not going so well for David. He has begun to receive a series of odd notes, warning him that his life is about to take a turn for the worse. Susan has ideas about their marriage, and has things that she is willing to pursue, with or without David. His co-worker Whit (Jamie Harrold) is apparently trying to get him job. And, he finds himself feeling more and more attracted to Melody (Jennifer Westfeldt), an odd stranger who emerges in his life. Things start to turn bad for David, and he begins to fear losing everything he has.
