The Great Swashbuckler

Ever wonder who puts swash in the word, swashbuckler? Douglas Fairbanks of course, and his lavish silent screen adaptation of the classic adventure, Robin Hood, is one of the quintessential swashbuckler films of all time. With a storyline that closely follows the familiar story of the dashing do-gooder, this film opens with our main character as the Earl of Huntington who, shortly after winning a jousting tournament, leaves for the crusades and journeys far from home before discovering back in England, the evil Prince John has seized the throne of King Richard The Lion-Hearted. Returning to Nottingham in the disguise of the brazen outlaw Robin hood, he seeks to dethrone the wicked warlord, and restore peace to the land and of course, stealing from the rich and giving to the poor. Combine magnificent sets, thrilling sword fights, an evil prince John Sam De Grasse, throw in a huge raggle-taggle band of Merry Men, add a little romance with Maid Marian Enid Bennett, and you have the thrill of a lifetime.
